Meli Manuselis, Executive Director & Vice President
In January 2018, City Year named Meli Manuselis as Vice President and Executive Director of City Year New Orleans. Meli has led City Year's New Orleans work in schools for the past 7 years, and is delighted for the opportunity to grow the organization and enhance the lives of more students in New Orleans.
Meli’s commitment to educational equality for children, professional experience rooted in direct service, and holistic approach to organizational health and wellbeing will take City Year New Orleans into its second decade poised for expansion and increased impact. She is guided by Kofi Annan's quote, “Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family”
Meli has been a Crescent City resident for more than thirteen years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy/Religious Studies from Loyola University at Chicago and her Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Loyola University at New Orleans. Meli is deeply involved with Rethink New Orleans and volunteers with Animal Rescue New Orleans. Prior to joining City Year, Meli worked at the New Orleans Habitat for Humanity site, organizing and overseeing the post-Katrina humanitarian efforts throughout the city.
“This is a wonderful moment for City Year New Orleans”, says long-term Board Chair and City Year champion, Diana Lewis. “Meli has been with City Year New Orleans since the beginning, and has shown great skill, perseverance, and—most importantly—genuine care for her team and the students they serve; I could not ask for a better person to take the reins at CYNO.”
